Biosocial Collaborative and HomeLab
Since the mid 2010s I’ve been co-director with Jacqui Smith of the Biosocial Methods Collaborative, which includes over 125 researchers across the University of Michigan and other institutions.
A highlight accomplishment has been designing, constructing and supporting the HomeLab, a fully functioning apartment that is instrumented with various sensors to study human behavior in a home-style environment. The HomeLab operates as a UM Core so is open to research projects across campus. We facilitate exciting research questions as well as push the envelope in using new technology to understand human behavior. This includes development of new algorithms specifically designed to facilitate understanding of human behavior.
